Pass mark in anna university

Anna university mark system

Many students who appears for
engineering exams (under Anna
University) have confusion in what is
the pass mark in Anna University
Exams?
what is the Anna University
Pass mark ? A candidate who
appears for the AU exams ought to
secure not less than 50% of the
total marks prescribed in the
courses with the minimum of 45% of
the marks allotted for the end
semester university examination, in
both theory and practical (including
Project work’s in 8th Semester) shall
be declared to have passed in AU
exams.
you will attend theory Exams for 100
marks.i.e. questions paper will have
content for 100 marks. and 20 marks
for internal. in this candidate must
score 45 out of 100 compulsarily to
get pass mark in theory exams. and
in internal you ought to score 14
out of 20 . so , marks that you get
out of 100 ( for example, 45 out of
100) will be converted for out of 80
and hence in that conversion a
candidate should get 36 out of 80.
so,
total marks =100
internal marks = 20
marks in theory =45 / 100 (before
conversion for 80)
marks in theory =36 /80 (after
conversion for 80)
internal marks that you (should) get
= 14 (minimum)
marks that you
score = 36 + 14 =50
50  -> minimum mark consider as
PASSED !!
if a candidate score 10 0ut of 20 in
internals , 36 +10 = 46 -> FAILED
thus , if a candidate get below 45
(out of 100) in theory exams or if
candidate get below 14 (out of 20)
in internals that candidate is
consider as failed in that concern
paper and he/she should appear
for re-exam again.
However, from the 3rd attempt
onwards, if a candidate fails to
obtain pass marks (IA + End
Semester Examination)as per
above mentioned, the passing
requirement shall be as follows:
The candidate should secure a
minimum of 50% in the University
Examinations alone irrespective of
Internal Assessment mark
obtained.
This is applicable for
both Theory and Practical courses.

hope you got clear idea about it.
